As we approach the new year it can bring up lots of different emotions for us. These can range from excitement, relief, sadness, pressure and anxiety.
Setting aside some time to reflect on the past year can help to give a sense of perspective and closure before moving forward.
If you do want to make a “New Years Resolution” set realistic goals. Many of us start each new year with an “all or nothing approach”which can make us feel under pressure.
This is because we have often set unrealistic goals that are unsustainable and feel a failure when we haven’t achieved them, making us feel even worse.
Focus on one or two priorities rather than overwhelming yourself with too many. It takes time to build new routines into our lives.
Think about 2025 as a whole year not just about achieving your goals in January. We are still recovering from the exhaustion of December!
Be kind and compassionate with yourself. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you didn’t accomplish everything you wanted to in 2024. Life is unpredictable and growth takes time.
Start small and build on creating new habits or tackling long-term goals, breaking things down into smaller, manageable steps will help you feel more in control and less stressed.
The start of a new year is a natural opportunity for fresh beginnings, but it can also be a reminder that life moves on. This is particularly difficult if you have experienced a loss.
Think about looking at 2025 as renewal rather than pressure to be a certain way. Approach this new year at your own pace.
Focus on what you have achieved and what you are doing now instead of worrying about the future. Easier said than done I know but by practicing this every day you will get there!
Remember- The start of a new year is just that—another opportunity to grow, reflect, and move forward at your own pace. It’s your journey……
