Do you ever feel guilty for shutting down and doing absolutely nothing?
If the answer is yes then the next time you do feel guilty for wanting or needing to do absolutely nothing try listening to your mind and body. What are they telling you?
Are they telling you that you are feeling physically and/or mentally tired?
Are they telling you that you are feeling overwhelmed?
Are they telling you that you are exhausted and/or just can’t think straight?
OR maybe they are simply telling you that some “me time” is needed!
If the answer is yes to any of these questions then you definitely need to shut down and do absolutely nothing!
Give it a try the to do list can wait!
You may feel guilty to start with but try "sitting with it" and over time as you become more aware of what your mind and body needs the guilt should lessen.
You may find that in the long run you actually get more done by listening to your mind and body and doing nothing when it’s needed!
It doesn’t even have to be for very long. Sometimes just 10 or 15 minutes can help other times you might need a whole day. The key is listening to what your mind and body are telling you.
However remember without the guilt if you can!
Balance between doing and just being (doing nothing) is self-care!
AND
Self-care is a key element of good mental and physical wellbeing/health!
Counselling can help us to achieve this.
